🌅 Historic Easter Celebration

Now in its 254th year, the Easter Sunrise Service in Old Salem is one of Winston-Salem’s most cherished traditions!

  • Fun Fact: First held in 1772, the service has been held longer than America has been a nation. It was recently featured in Southern Living!

  • What to Expect: Before dawn, thousands gather at Salem Square for a liturgical reading and hymns, then silently process to God’s Acre, where the service concludes with the choir singing as the sun begins to rise.

  • Details: The service starts at 6:15 AM, but we recommend arriving early! You can find parking at:

    • Old Salem parking lot | 720 Salt Street

    • Old Salem Visitors Center | 800 Old Salem Road

    • North of the cemetery | 235 S. Church Street

    • Grassy field on Academy Street at Factory Row

♻️ This year, Goodwill Industries of NWNC is celebrating 100 years of giving people and things a second chance!

  • People: Goodwill provides job training, career support, and employment programs to help individuals build a better future—guided by its founding philosophy: “a hand up, not a handout.”

  • Things: Each year, Goodwill recycles 40 million pounds of unwanted goods through its donated goods program.

  • How it works together: Donations become items to sell, which create funding for employment programs that help people like Paula, a Nurse Aide student, build a brighter future.
