❤️ Quick Note

Our hearts are with our community today. We are devastated by the tragic shooting at Leinbach Park and ask that you join us in praying for all those affected, their families, and our city as we grieve together.

💬 Local Language Learning

65% of our readers don't speak a second language — yet. The Vecino Center is here to change that!

  • Backstory: Alexa Schleien founded the Vecino Center in 2023 to bridge cultures by breaking down language barriers.

    • "The best way to learn a language isn't through an app or a depersonalized experience... [It's] by learning building blocks and then using it with people." - Alexa

  • What: Learn Spanish, French, Italian, or Arabic at the Vecino Center! Classes are intentionally small so everyone gets to speak. As you can tell from the photo, hands-on activities are also a major part of the learning process!

  • Our Take: Team member Jacob took Spanish classes at Vecino Center in 2024. “I loved forming friendships and practicing real conversations from day one!”

  • Details: Summer classes just dropped! Register before spots fill up. Classes meet for 6–7 in-person sessions at 3477 Myer Lee Drive.
