  • ☕️ Now Open: Visit Qatar Specialty Coffee at 6311 Stadium Drive in Clemmons for Yemeni coffee! This is their second location; the original opened last year in San Antonio, TX!

  • ⚠️ Renovation: Fratellis has temporarily closed for a renovation, which will include enlarging the kitchen and creating an outdoor dining space. The restaurant is expected to reopen in March.

  • 😢 Closed: Brixx Wood Fired Pizza abruptly closed its Winston-Salem and Greensboro locations yesterday. The company has not shared a reason for the closures.

🧱 Historical Highlight

Look closely — you might spot bricks crafted by local brickmaker George H. Black in buildings across Winston-Salem!

  • Who: Black lived in Winston-Salem from the late 1800s until his death in 1980. He was known for crafting handmade bricks in his backyard using 18th- and 19th-century techniques.

  • Impact: His bricks appear throughout Winston-Salem! They were used in the original NC Baptist Hospital (“Old Main”), R.J. Reynolds Tobacco’s buildings, and even the sidewalks of Old Salem.

  • Preserved: The George Black House and Brickyard was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000, and the City of Winston-Salem installed a historic marker at the site in 2007.
