🗣 Celebrating a Legacy
In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 19, we’re looking back at the civil rights activist’s visits to Winston-Salem!
First Visit: On October 11, 1962, Dr. King gave a speech at Wake Forest University’s Wait Chapel on the integration of the South.
You can listen to the speech at the Z. Smith Reynolds Library on Wake Forest’s campus!
Second Visit: On April 13, 1964, Dr. King returned to speak on voting and nonviolent protests at Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church.
Over 1,000 people came to hear him speak!
