Open mic nights are a low-pressure way to share your talent! Whether you play an instrument, write poetry, or perform standup, Winston-Salem has plenty of welcoming spots to get on stage.

  • Wise Man Brewing | Every Wednesday | A wide variety of musicians turn out each week, playing covers and originals.

  • The Bookhouse | Every 2nd Thursday | Hosted by Winston-Salem Writers, this one's for the word nerds. Bring original creative writing in any genre — fiction, memoir, poetry, experimental, you name it.

    • Looking for a purely poetry-focused night? Poetry Slam is held the 2nd Friday of every other month. Bring 3 poems and compete for cash prizes!

  • Chad’s Chai | Every 3rd Saturday | Musicians, poets, comedians, and other performers are all welcome! We think the cozy atmosphere makes Chad’s Chai a perfect place for first-time performers.

  • The Grackle | Bimonthly | Hosted by The Healing Pen at Lot 63, this storytelling collective invites people from all walks of life to share their stories! Apply to be a future speaker.

  • Earl’s | Every Monday | Most folks share songs at this open mic night, but all talent is welcome. Pair your performance with a bite of their Southern comfort food!

  • Willow Ridge Farmstead | Every Thursday | This small Clemmons family farm’s open mic night is open to all types of performers. They even serve homemade pizza and ice cream during performances!
